Adopting Cats and Kittens
with Special Needs
If you are considering adopting a cat or kitten, please do not overlook those with special needs. The internet is a wonderful resource on all aspects of disabilities. I have also found videos of "C H" cats on YouTube.
Roxy's condition does not affect her intelligence or her general health. Her life expectancy is normal. She is a snuggler and is very playful. She "fetches" her toys like a dog. She uses her litter box without any difficulty. She can't jump very high, but she can jump up on the sofa to nap next to me.
I would be happy to answer any questions about Roxy or her condition through the Friends of Feral Cheshire Cats organization at www.FriendsOfFeralCheshireCats.org or through my e-mail, lfreedman606@yahoo.com.
You can also follow me on Twitter @CHCatMom.
Older cats also need loving homes. We adopted "Moe" at age 7, who quickly became Roxy's older brother and playmate. Moe had been abandoned and we were his last hope. Moe lets Roxy boss him around and pretends to be frightened of her "attacks". I can't imagine sweet Moe sitting in a shelter, or worse.
Please make a donation "in honor of" or "in memory of" a special cat in your life.
If you can, pick up an extra bag of cat food and donate it to a shelter or organization. They need our help in these difficult times.
If you knit or crochet, some shelters, like the Connecticut Humane Society, welcome small blankets for the animals.
